The first Monday in May. The one time in they year when the hottest stars in the world come together in the city that never sleeps and showcase their craziest, most glamorous outfits. I wouldn't even classify them as outfits, they are pieces of art.
Fashion is a media of art and it's so evident in this event, that all you can do is be in awe as each person takes their turn walking up the infamous met steps.
Even if someone's look is not my cup of tea, there's still a beauty to it-in the way that there's a story that lies within the clothes and also it's relationship to the person wearing it.
The met ball, I think, is a time to really appreciate fashion at its art form. So many people are so quick to just judge based on the look, but it's also important to really think about the meaning behind it. Don't get me wrong, I can also be quick to judge from first look, but after watching the other night and then going back after and taking time to scroll through and really take it all in, I reminded myself that this is why I love fashion.
Fashion is about expression-whether that means expression of identity or expression of the time or even expression of the person's current mood. At it's core, it holds different meanings to all different people. Fashion is also evolving constantly, and listening to some interviews, it really is interesting to see how people have been getting more and more creative at the met each year. We can see how, just in this one event, fashion, the fashion industry, and even society is changing-through the clothes and the people invited.
