STYLING TIPS: HOW TO WORK WITH WHAT YOU'VE GOT

We've all been there. You're getting ready to leave and the outfit you planned doesn't work. Or, you're simply stuck and can't find anything to wear. Either way, we've got you covered. Read below for some tried and true quick tips to ensure you're always leaving the house in an outfit you feel good in.

  1. The Basics Basics can never be overrated. The basic white tee, the black tee, grey tee, light pink tee, whatever it may be -- a basic tee (short or long sleeve!) and a pair of pants is always a good base. Jeans, trousers, whatever you may have -- any kind of pant works with this. Or, really struggling that day? Leggings can work, too! Pair with a sweater thrown over your shoulders or an open cardigan with some jewelery and you have an outfit. Something still isn't working? Add the foolproof accessory -- the slick back. An added bonus? You could be on day 3 hair and nobody will ever know!

  2. The Sandwhich Method A reliable classic. Whenever in doubt, keep it as simple as a sandwhich. What do you need to make one? Two pieces of bread, and your choice of meat. Translate this into the fashion world by wearing the same color top piece as your bottom piece and add a pop of color in the middle. This won't be a PB&J, but will instead be a super cute and easy outfit that will look like you put hours into -- even though it took no more than 5 minutes. A simple example? Grab your comfiest sweater, throw on your favorite pair of jeans, and then pick a pair of shoes that match the color of your sweater -- and voilà, ready to head out the door!

  3. 3-Color Rule This one depends on your personal style. For me, I like sticking with 2-3 colors in my outfits, but that may not work for you and that's perfectly ok, too. But, when you're crunched for time and just need something that's going to look good for that day, this method may work for you. The 3-color rule says that any outfit shouldn't have more than 3 colors going on at once. (Hint: black and white don't have to count!) The main point of this look is to keep the outfit looking classic, put together, and not like it has too much going on. But again, entirely a personal decision! When I am getting dressed for the day and think about this rule, my go to is a color on top, a pair of jeans, and white shoes. I think of denim and white both as colors here, and add interest to the outfit through my accessories and jewelry. Super easy and ensures a great outfit!

  4. We won't tell! Be an outfit repeater! All else fails? It's ok -- we won't tell. Put on your favorite pieces and head out the door! So what if you wore it last week? You are definitely the only one who will remember. If you feel comfortable and stylish -- that's all that matters!

Have fun with it and feel confident going out the door!
