When I think of summer, I envision flowy sundresses, a tan, and effortless hair blowing in the warm wind. I picture soft linen pants with a sweater thrown over, complete with a pair of sandals or summery sneakers that make the look ever so beachy. This summer, it seems that mini skirts, bold colors, and crochet are front and center of the picture. How do you style these newfound trends, while also keeping your own style? Let’s dig in.
I think the most important thing regarding any trend is staying true to yourself first and foremost. Trends come and go, but staying true to yourself will always be in. It’s easy to get swayed into buying the trending Zara pieces on TikTok, but the reality is, you won’t be wearing them season to season. Trend pieces are fun and especially when you get good wear out of them. What is more important, though, is sticking to your own unique style.
If a white t-shirt and your favorite pair of jeans are your go-to look, that’s great! Wear it! Don’t worry about the influencers posting about the latest pieces for the season, but if those interest you, then by all means try them out. Fashion is all about finding what works and what doesn’t, and it varies from person to person. Someone else could look great wearing something that you could not picture yourself in, ever. And that’s ok! Fashion doesn’t work like that, and it’s not supposed to. One style does not fit all.
CROCHET
So, since we’ve gotten the important message of wearing what makes you feel comfortable and confident out of the way, let’s dive into how you can incorporate this mindset into summer wear. If you like to stick to the basics, try a cream crochet top paired with white jeans. It’s simple and classy while also adding a touch of trendy flair to your otherwise staple summer jeans. Bring this look together with your favorite bag or standby tan sandals to escalate the look to summer chic. Crochet also adds style points when incorporated as a two-piece outfit or dress. These looks create a bit of trend edge to summer standbys.
BOLD COLORS
Bold colors prove to be a more difficult task, at least for me. I like my classic styles and tend to stray away from bold, neon colors. I do, however, like to incorporate pink into my wardrobe as a bold wow piece. Working in neon can prove to be difficult, but with fun summer confidence and tan, you can totally pull it off. Here are some inspo pics for a subtle dive into the bold world of color.
MINI SKIRTS
Last but not least, mini skirts. I know these most definitely are not everyone’s thing, but when styled correctly, they can be super cute. I have recently found a love for mini skirts, and have added three to my collection in anticipation of this season. Despite totally being a trend at the moment, I do believe that mini skirts can be incorporated into fall wear, especially in the early fall months. I think the monochromatic look especialy can be transferred from season to season, as it serves as a classic style while still being trendy. The best of both worlds! Here are some of my favorite Pinterest mini skirt looks.
Just be yourself. I think trends can be fun to experiment with and incorporate into your wardrobe for the season, but by no means do they make or break your sense of style. Honestly, classic is always in and trendy, so you can never go wrong with your basics if that’s what you feel comfortable in. If you do try out any of the trends, however, send us a style pic! We would love to see and feature you in our story! Here’s to summer style!
