HEY 2023

Reflecting back on 2022, I feel as if it was a transitional year for me...moving from a couple of the lowest years of my life to now what I'm seeing as my fresh start/thriving era. I've done a lot of growing the past year and worked on slowly building myself back up after a hard couple of years. I still have a lot of work to do on myself, but I'm happy with the progression I've made. I'm putting out good energy into this next year and manifesting a year where I can becoming undeniably myself, so here are my goals:

1. THINK AND SPEAK GOOD THOUGHTS

I think i've gotten into the habit of thinking down on myself. I constantly pick out my flaws and insecurities and allow them to be the things that define me in my mind. This year I want to get in the habit of maintaining a postivie mindset and seeing the good in all things. There are undoubtedly going to be moments where I mess up, embarrass myself, and compare myself, but those moments are not exclusive to me. I need to remind myself everyone goes through bad moments as much as they put up a front. I truly believe that what you think and speak about yourself is what becomes what you give up and come across to others. I need to truly believe that I am deserving of all good things and that I am enough as I am. All I can do is focus on myself, doing what makes me feel fulfilled, and priortizing the things that are important to me and leave behind all the overthinking on things I have no control over.

2. DRESS HOW I WANT TO

I feel like a lot of the time I can come up with cool outfits, but then chicken out of wearing them in public due to the fear of judgment. I want to get over this. I need to embrace who I am and if anyone doesn't like it then honestly f-- that. I think this will also help me get out of my creative rut while also helping me learn to be more confident in who I am.

3. FIND EFFECTIVE STUDY HABITS

In the new semester, I want to feel motivated to do well in school again. I think having online school for so long due to covid, it's made me feel unmotivated to really put my all into school. I still prioritize it and do decently well, but I need to stop making excuses for myself and put my best into it. I want to find study habits that will help me excel at school and feel motivated/productive.

4. START MAKING CONNECTIONS

As someone who wants to go into luxury and fashion marketing, I need to start networking and making connections now. The industry is hard to break into and I need to make strides towards setting myself up for success. Going to BC, I have so many resources available to me, and I want to make use of most of them before I graduate.

5. BE OPEN TO ALL POSSIBILITIES

A lot of the time I feel as if I can limit myself, whether that's what I believe I am capable of or on the things I can or can't do. I want to open myself to anything this year and learn to say "yes." I have a hard time giving myself the benefit of the doubt and in turn limiting myself to all the opportunities that I could have. I need to believe that I can do anything I set my mind to, even if it almost seems impossible in the moment. I need to believe that those things would not be presented to me if I was not capable of achieving it or taking part in it. If I have this mindset of I am deserving of all the cool experiences that present themselves to me, then I will be able to put more of myself into it and excel more because I truly do believe in myself. What's meant for me will come to me.

When the end of a year approaches, I always catch myself wondering how it went by so fast. I stress about whether or not I did enough. I think back on all the moments. Did I accomplish enough? Did I do all the things I wanted to do? It can be tough to set strict goals and maintain those throughout all that life throws at you over the course of a year. New Year's resolutions, however, should just be seen as ways to help better yourself in the coming year.

Going into the new year, I want to keep working on myself and cultivating healthy habits for my body and mind. It is so important to take care of yourself before you can expect to do or take care of anything or anyone else. My New Year's goals are focused on bettering myself and making my life more and more exciting to wake up to every day. Here are a few of the things that I want to carry into 2023 for a mindful and healthy life.

In the new year, I want to:

  • Exercise

  • Journal

  • Be patient with myself and others

  • Prioritize my health

  • Focus on spreading good energy

  • Trust my intuition and gut feelings

  • Travel to new places

  • Continue to believe that everything happens how and when its supposed to

What do I expect out of 2023? I am not quite sure, but I am excited to see what comes my way. Everything will fall into place as it's supposed to. Here are some quotes to set the mindset for the new year...

2023 is going to be the year of putting it all together. Whatever you want? Work towards it. Manifest it. Believe that good things are going to happen to you. Put in the work to get there. If you believe it and work towards it, it will begin to manifest itself into your life.

2023 has a good ring to it. Let this year be the year where all dreams start to become reality.

XOXO,

MH
